Crystal deodorant. What kind of animal is this? And why is it multifunctional?

What it is?

In nature, there is the mineral alunite, which consists of potassium and aluminum salts (they have an old Russian name - alum). These substances have the amazing property of destroying microorganisms. But the unpleasant smell of sweat is not caused by the liquid itself released from the pores, but by the bacteria that multiply in it.

If you remove microbes from the surface of the skin, the problem of repulsive odor will be solved. This is the secret of the action of alum deodorant: it kills bacteria and disinfects the epidermis.

It is made very simply - they grind a piece of rock, giving it the appearance of a cylinder rounded at the top, then grind it and attach it to a plastic stand.

These deodorants are called differently: stone deodorant, alum, mineral, crystal, solid.

Which is better to choose a stick or a stone?

Natural crystal deodorants are presented for sale in the form of a stick or a solid stone. Many people wonder which form is better to choose and whether they have any differences:

  • The sticks melt, have a uniform matte consistency and allow moisture to pass through better. When making them, the manufacturer can add extracts of essential oils or plants to improve the effect;
  • Solid stones are white in color with a heterogeneous consistency and represent natural rock. These products are less processed and therefore considered more natural.

What are the advantages of this method of protection against sweat odor?

  • It is made from natural material, which means it does not clog the body with various synthetic substances. It can even be used by pregnant and lactating women.
  • It does not clog the ducts of the sweat glands, therefore, does not disrupt the body’s thermoregulation. This is especially important in case of heavy physical activity or in hot weather.
  • Does not cause allergies or skin irritation.
  • Does not leave sticky residue and does not cause a feeling of tightness.
  • It has an anti-inflammatory effect, which improves the condition of the skin of the armpits, which is often shaved.
  • It is multifunctional. Crystal salt deodorant not only removes odors in intensely sweating areas, but also stops bleeding from abrasions and small cuts, relieves itching from mosquito bites, accelerates the healing of herpes “marks,” and eliminates oily shine on the face.
  • It has a long validity period - about 24 hours.
  • It is used sparingly: one alum deodorant with daily use lasts more than a year.
  • Does not contain oils or emulsions that could stain clothing.

ALUNITE AND SHAVING

As we said above, alunite is used for accidental cuts. A natural antiseptic promotes rapid healing of shallow wounds and scratches due to the fact that it accelerates the process of blood clotting. Before using it, you need to remove any remaining foam or shaving gel, and then moisten the corner of the mineral with cold water, apply it to the wound and wait half a minute. The slight tingling sensation will quickly pass, followed by a feeling of tightness in the affected area, but it is unlikely to cause you discomfort.

If you want to soothe your skin, gently wipe your face with a damp stone. After 1-2 minutes, wash with cool water. This method of relieving irritation is suitable for men with normal to oily skin. Moreover, due to its “tightening” properties, alunite helps to narrow pores and regulate the functioning of the sebaceous glands. Therefore, owners of combination skin should be careful with the mineral so as not to cause peeling. For men with dry skin, it is recommended to use alunite only on cuts. For convenience, it is better to choose not a solid mineral, but in the form of a pencil.

Despite all the advantages of alunite, it is used extremely rarely in barbershops. After all, this is a reusable product, and even with careful handling, the master cannot guarantee absolute sterility.

How to use it?

There are two ways to use these deodorants:

1) The skin in areas requiring treatment must first be thoroughly washed and dried. Lightly moisten the mineral and rub it over the body. Wait a couple of minutes until the layer of product on the skin dries, and you can get dressed.

2) As practice shows, it is more effective. The skin, just as in the first option, must be thoroughly washed and dried. Then, moisten the stick itself in water, thoroughly treat the sweating area and let it dry.

After each use, the solid crystal deodorant must be rinsed with clean water and allowed to dry (you can wipe with a napkin). Then no unpleasant odors will appear on the surface of the mineral. The product must be kept tightly closed.

Alum deodorant removes odor rather than stopping sweating. Therefore, adjacent areas of clothing may still become wet. Underarm sweat pads help solve this problem. They are made of highly absorbent material and are compatible with all types of fabric.

How to use the product correctly

Instructions for using Alunite stone are based on simple steps:

  • Application to cleansed skin is preferable after taking a shower;
  • Before application, the surface of the crystal must be moistened with water to obtain a therapeutic effect;
  • When treating the interdigital space, it is best to use a stick or a solid bar. A thick mixture of crystal shavings and water is also effective;
  • The product can be used several times during the day.

When applying crystal powder, you must first moisten the armpit area with water to ensure good adhesion of the chips to the skin.

Why do they say it doesn't work?

1) You may not have washed your skin thoroughly. If there are bacteria left on the skin that cause unpleasant odors, deodorant will not help.

2) Perhaps the application method is not suitable for you.

3) If the deodorant worked and prevented the appearance of an unpleasant odor, but over time the unpleasant odor reappeared, this does not mean that the skin has “got used to it” and the product no longer works. Most likely, particles of epithelium and bacteria have accumulated on the surface of your stick, which must be removed to restore the effect of the deodorant. To do this, it is necessary to remove a small layer, about 0.5 mm, from the surface of the crystal. To remove, you can use a disposable nail file or any other available materials with an abrasive surface.

Effect as a deodorant

Constantly washing the skin with various cosmetics (soap, shower gel) helps reduce the pH level, which leads to the successful development of pathogens on the skin and the appearance of a pronounced unpleasant odor.

The mechanism of action of Alunite as a deodorant is carried out in two directions:

  • Disruption of DNA replication of viruses and bacteria, which leads to blocking their further reproduction;
  • Damage to the cellular structures of bacteria and their complete destruction.

Why should you choose natural remedies for sweat odor?

1) Alunite deodorant is a one-component natural product.

2) Helps get rid of sweat odor for 12 hours.

3) Safe for you and the environment.

4) Can be used not only as a deodorant (more on that below).

5) Economical.

6) No smell.

7) Does not leave marks on clothes and body.

8) There are no unpleasant sensations from use (such as stickiness, dry skin, deodorant residue, irritation).

Marina, Taganrog

I always sweat a lot, so I spent a long time looking for suitable deodorizing products. One of these was the natural deodorant Alunite. After application, the skin becomes dry and the unpleasant odor disappears. So only the best recommendations from me.

I am of the opinion that it is best to use natural cosmetics, which is why Alunite is such a deodorant. Hypoallergenic and safe to use, and also economical to use.

Place of Birth

The natural antiseptic is not a rare mineral - both large and small deposits of it are found in Europe and Asia, North and South America and even in Australia. It is surprising that almost no alunite is found on the territory of ancient Egypt and Rome.

Large deposits of stone are located in Russia in the Middle Urals (Tochalny Kamen village), Primorsky Territory (Dalnegorskoye village) and in the Amur region, as well as in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Extensive deposits are located in the USA and Italy.

Extraction of the mineral is simple: from alunite ore, which does not lie very deep. It is crushed, fired and further processed.

Physical properties

The physicochemical characteristics of alunite are determined by its composition and the structure of the crystal lattice.

Fragile, easily crumbles or breaks, dissolves in water.

The healing properties of alunite are due to the salts of manganese, chlorine and potassium. The presence of oxygen in the mineral makes it hard, and a small amount of sulfuric acid makes it possible to process jewelry.

History and origin

Alunite has been known for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptian papyri, Babylonian cuneiform and the works of the Roman writer Pliny the Elder described this stone with amazing antiseptic properties and bore several names: “red stone” or “sour stone”.

mineral
Mineral Alunite

In ancient Eastern medicine, alunite was widely used and revered for its miraculous properties. And after its deposit was discovered in Italy in the 15th century, alunite crystals and powder began to be used not only as a disinfectant, but also to treat many diseases.

But the mineral received its name relatively recently - at the end of the 18th century in France. “Alun” is what geologists called this amazing stone. And the translation of the French name is prosaic and indicates the chemical composition of the stone - “alum”.

Possible harm and contraindications

Until now, scientists have not proven whether potassium aluminum sulfate, the content of which is increased in alunite, is harmful to the body. However, some doctors believe that the accumulation of this substance leads to genetic changes and serious diseases of the dermis.

Important information

It is not recommended to use the mineral during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as the child may be allergic to one of the components of the natural deodorant. Also, do not apply crystal chips to areas affected by dermatitis.

It is better for people with chronic diseases to purchase alum stone only after consulting a specialist.

How to distinguish a fake?

Although the cost of alunite is low, counterfeits are common. It is very easy to distinguish them from a real natural mineral. You need to scrape off a few crumbs from the crystal and fill it with water. And then watch the dissolution process: the real one will dissolve and turn into jelly - “burnt alum”, and the fake will remain in the form of an insoluble powder.

There is another way to recognize a fake - lick the mineral. This stone has a slightly sour, slightly salty taste.

Varieties

Types of alum stone differ from each other in color. Since deposits often contain other minerals, when interacting with them, impurities are formed in alunite. They give a variety of shades.

  • Natural stone without impurities is transparent.
  • If the potassium concentration is exceeded, then alunite has a white or grayish color.
  • Iron colors alunite yellow or brown.

    Yellow alunite

  • With an increased concentration of aluminum, dark gray or cool bluish shades appear.
  • Chlorine impurities give the mineral a yellowish or turquoise sheen.
  • When there are close deposits of manganese, the alum stone turns purple or crimson.

    Pink alunite

Since the concentration of foreign elements is small and rarely reaches 2% - 3%, the color is unstable. The crystal does not lose its transparency, but acquires a light tint.

Areas of application of stone

The properties of the mineral have been known to man for a long time, and therefore it is used in many areas of human life:

  • In medicine. The hemostatic and healing properties of the stone have been noticed for a long time and have been used in folk medicine since ancient times. In China, to this day, women use it as a contraceptive, placing candle crystals in the female genital tract before intimacy with a man (they reduce sperm activity). But in the 20th century, alunite powder began to be used in traditional medicine - in antiseptic ointments and drops
  • At home. The mineral neutralizes unpleasant odors: fish, garlic and onions, rotting organic matter. To do this, it dissolves in water, a cloth is soaked in the substance, and the smelly surfaces are wiped with it. The same solution can be used as a disinfectant and bleaching agent.
  • In industry . In paper production, for the production of alumina, potassium salts and alum.
  • In magic. Symbolizing two principles: yin and yang, the stone is actively used in the East as amulets and for rituals aimed at balancing all energy on Earth.
  • In jewelry. Due to its unusual appearance, it is used in jewelry and talismans.
  • In cosmetology. The crystal has light tanning, whitening and disinfecting properties, so it is used for facial cleansing, for the care of oily skin, and for the treatment of acne and pimples.

REFERENCE! After use, the mineral must be dried, but not in the sun. Under its rays, the crystal lattice of the mineral changes, and it becomes even more fragile.

Magical powers

Endowed with magical powers, alunite is able to bring harmony both to a person’s soul and to his home. A stone located in the corner of the room is able to control the flow of energy in the room, bringing them into a balanced state, filling the house with harmony, peace and happiness and protecting against the evil eye, damage and quarrels.

IMPORTANT! Alunite is considered an angelic stone, so it cannot be stored in places accessible to everyone - it significantly loses its power. And the location in the corner allows the sour stone to be at the crossroads of energy paths and correctly and evenly manage energy flows.

A crystal is simply necessary for people who tend to have their head in the clouds, disconnected from reality. He will add to them prudence and a “sober outlook on life. But at the same time, alunite can relieve stress from people overwhelmed by circumstances and problems.
